Nagoya: Nakasendo Trail with Cultural Experience & transport

The guide will meet you up in the lobby of the hotel you are staying in Nagoya.
In addition to an English-speaking guide, you will have a dedicated driver.

First, the driver will take you to one of the post towns by comfortable car (it takes approx. 1.5 hours), where you have a hands-on cultural experience in a Buddhist temple.

The cultural activity included in your tour will be determined based on your preferences and the availability of the temples.

At the second destination, Magome post town, you will see traditional old houses and shops which sell local handicrafts. You will discover the history of Edo period as well as the story of local timber which is famous across the country.

Embark on a journey along the historic Nakasendo Trail, starting with a hike from Magome Peak. This scenic trail stretches 5.8 kilometers and typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, offering a perfect blend of nature and history.

The trail leads through serene forests, past charming streams, and over gentle slopes, providing stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Along the way, you’ll discover the beauty of the Nakasendo and immerse yourself in the timeless charm of Japan's Edo-period post towns.

Along the Nakasendo Trail, some sections of the path can be quite steep. For those who may not feel confident in their physical strength, we recommend taking it slow and pacing yourself during the climb. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Rest assured, our driver will be on standby throughout the journey. If you feel tired at any point, the driver can pick us up and take us by car to our destination. This way, you can enjoy the trail at your own pace without any pressure.

Our final destination, Tsumago Post Station Town, is a beautifully preserved historic town that offers a glimpse into Japan’s Edo-period charm. Stroll through streets lined with traditional wooden houses and explore buildings that once served as accommodations for samurai and travelers. Visit ancient post offices, horse stables, and other landmarks that capture the essence of this historic route.

After soaking in the unique atmosphere of Tsumago, we will return to Nagoya directly by car. For your convenience, we’ll drop you off at your desired location within Nagoya city, ensuring a seamless and comfortable end to your day.
