Full description

Discover the mountainous city of Takayama and the village of Shiragawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on this full-day trip from Nagoya. Explore the markets and try local specialties in Takayama, then admire the picturesque landscapes in Shiragawa-go.

To begin the tour, make your way to the meeting point, meet your guide, and board your transportation. Then, drive to the mountainous Hida region in the Gifu Prefecture to reach the beautifully preserved city of Hida Takayama.

Upon arrival, take a walk along Sannomachi Street, taste local delicacies like Hida beef and Takayama ramen, and see the work of local craftsmen.

Head to one of the morning markets — Miyagawa Market or Jinya-Mae Market — and get a taste of local life. You will also receive recommendations for the best spots to have lunch (not included).

After lunch, head to Gasyomura in Shiragawa-go and take in the scenery of mountains, paddy fields, and trickling rivers. Come to understand why Shiragawa-go is known as the kingdom of forests and streams, and see why the origin of the name Shirokawa-go means "the white river."

Head to the Ogimachi Castle Site Observatory to enjoy the beautiful views of Gassho-mura village and Mount Hakusan. Have some time to pop into the Ochiudo cafe, famous for its big dogs, decorative coffee cups, and snacks. Afterward, the tour returns to Nagoya.

Meet at the door of the "Ministop" convenience store in Nagoya Station. It's behind the "Bic Camera" at the station's West Exit. Address：5-10 Tsubakichō, Nakamura-ku, Nagoya-shi, Aichi-ken 453-0015. The tour guide will hold a yellow flag with the 'Gogoday' logo at the meeting point.Please arrive 15 minutes early. No refunds for late arrivals or no-shows.

Really nice day trip activity. transport and itinerary was organized so we could fully enjoy just looking around. had enough time in both locations to stroll around, but maybe not so much time to sit and have lunch or dinner so I would recommend packing some food!

Nous n'avions pas la possibilité d'aller à Takayama et Shirakawa-gō par nous-mêmes, et cette excursion était parfaite pour le faire. Notre guide a été extraordinaire, avec beaucoup de connaissances. Malheureusement, le retour ne s'est pas passé comme prévu à cause d'un typhon et toutes les routes ont été fermées. Notre guide et le chauffeur ont été incroyablement rassurants, et bienveillants. Nous sommes rentrés bien plus tard que prévu mais en toute sécurité grâce à leur professionnalisme et gentillesse. Encore merci pour cette expérience !

We had a wonderful time travelling to two amazing places. The guide was very friendly and kind, and helped us through out the trip. The traffic was heavy on our way to Shirakawa go; however, our guide suggested that we hike to our destination, and I must way, it was so refreshing to see the beautiful landscape and traditional houses along the way. It was a memorable trip!! Thank you very much!!
