Checking in with a mobile voucher was confusing and annoying; everyone kept being told to wait in different lines, we would get to the front and be told to go back in the line we had waited in previously (it was a poorly communicated system, whatever it was). The tour itself was enjoyable. We had a charming, older Greek woman who was very passionate about the history and mythology of the place. The group gets an hour to wander around, and although the museum building was closed for renovations, there was a lot to see outside and were still didn't get to everything. There are some informational placards at various points of interest that are quite detailed, so I only had time to take pictures of them to read afterwards. Tip: There is little-to-no shade on Delos and they don't have water facilities, so bring a hat and plenty of water to keep cool.

We pre-booked our tour to Delos online. We arrived at the little hut by Vegera restaurant to collect our tickets and board the boat. Masks were needed at all times in the boat and it filled up quickly on the top deck. The ferry over is only about 30 minutes. On arrival we were greeted by our guide, Athena. Our tour included skip the line tickets which was sort of worth doing. I say this because the queue for the tickets seemed huge but moved fairly quickly. Our skip the line tickets resulted in only my husband having to wait behind until another group had passed through before he got his. Our guide didn't seem too pleased with what was happening and we got the impression the lady on the gate was just being difficult. The boat departed at 10am and we arrived at 10:30 and our tour started around 10 minutes later. Athena has lived on the island as she has worked there as a archeologist and is an architect. We spent about 2 hours with her and she took us to see various sites and told us

The guide (Georgia) was great! She studied archeology and art history, so the tour was full of interesting details. We felt that she was very flexible and adjusted the tour according to our interests. Also, I'm really glad we opted for the private tour as I think this way we managed to get so much more information about the site. If you are really interested, go for the private option, it's worth it. The only wrinkle was the fact that the boat departed 20 mins late because they were waiting for one person who was late. This person obnoxiously arrived to the boat ramp on a massive jeep, clearly some spoiled rich dude. It escapes me why the whole boat had to wait for him.
