From Yangon: Full Day Excursion to Golden Rock

1. From Yangon: Full Day Excursion to Golden Rock

Start the overland drive to the Kin Pun "base camp" of Golden Rock with a 5:30 AM hotel pick up in Yangon. Continue onward to Kyaiktiyo (the "Golden Rock"), a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaves and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. You will arrive at Kim Pun base camp at around noon. As soon as you arrive at Kim Pun Base Camp you will take an open truck to reach the mountain top pagoda. After arriving to the top of the mountain pagoda, you can visit the Golden Rock Pagoda and take photos around there. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en-route. After lunch, leave from Kyaikhto and return back to Yangon via Bago. Your short visit in Bago includes seeing the great Shwemawdaw Pagoda, which is over a thousand years old. Its spire is even taller than that of Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda. You will also see the 55-meter-long reclining Shwe Thalyaung Buddha Image, one of the country's most revered objects. You will also make a brief stop at Kyaik Pun Pagoda, famous for its four giant Buddha figures. If time permits, you can visit the Allied War Cemetery in Htauk Kyant. You will arrive back at your hotel late evening.

2. Indein Pagoda and Inle Lake Sightseeing

Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Inle Lake or Phaung Daw Side jetty. Then visit the Inle Lake and Indein Village by local small boat. See the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most venerable pagoda in Southern Shan State. Admire the Floating Gardens and Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, containing 16th and 17th century lacquer Buddha Images, silk and lotus weaving factory, and silver souvenir making workshop. Then visit to Indein village and Shwe Indein Pagodas, a group of Buddhist pagodas in the village of Indein, near Ywama and Inlay Lake in Shan State. Learn about the holy roles these Buddhists play. Immerse yourself in the culture, while admiring the wholesome way of live. After that, you will be taken to your hotel, so you can enjoy the sunset from the middle of the lake on a boat.

Bagan: Sa Lay Mount Popa Day Tour

3. Bagan: Sa Lay Mount Popa Day Tour

Your tour will begin as you are collected from your accommodation in Bagan at around 8:00AM, from where you will journey to Sa Lay. Once there you can explore the Yoke Sone Monastery, which is the oldest surviving wooden monastery hall. The monastery is built on 154 teak posts, and features beautiful woodcarving decorating the outer walls. Whilst there, you can also visit the Hnee Phaya, as well as a local market in Salay. You will then drive to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano over 1,500 meters high which is about 48 kilometers south-east of Bagan. You will have lunch here, before climbing up to the top of the mountain. On the way to the top of the mountain you will see local monkeys running around, and once at the top you will discover a collection of monasteries and worship shrines. From the top of the mountain you will be able to view the beautiful green environment of Popa Oasis, which will create a 360-degree panorama around you. On your return to Bagan later that evening, you will make a short break at a toddy palm plantation.

Half-Day Yangon City Tour

4. Half-Day Yangon City Tour

The first stop is the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the most famous attraction of Yangon. The professional English speaking local guide will show you around of the hidden messages of the Pagoda and tell you more about the history. Please note that you need to take off your shoes if you enter the pagoda and walk around.  Then. continue to the central area of Yangon, where most of the colonial buildings are standing. Walk around this area to explore Yangon City Hall, Independence Monument, former High Court Buildings, Telegraph Office and along the way you will see some street book stalls that sell the oldest books here. You will visit Nanthida Jetty, where you can watch the busy life on the Yangon river and to see the daily communication of people from the suburbs of Yangon. This walking tour will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour.  The last stop of the tour is a visit to Saint Mary's Cathedral, an old Colonial building built in 1899. You will be transported back to your hotel safely after the tour.

From Bagan: Mount Popa Day-Tour

5. From Bagan: Mount Popa Day-Tour

Start your tour from the convenience of your hotel room in Bagan. Your driver will be there to meet you at 8:00am and after a short meet and greet, you will set-off to your destination. Hop in your air-conditioned vehicle with your personal driver and take a 48km drive south east of Bagan. Along the way you will have the opportunity to take in the picturesque scenery en route to your destination.  Once you arrive at your destination, Mt. Popa, you will start your ascent to the top of the extinct volcanic mountain. The hike up the mountain allows for beautiful sightseeing, not to mention animal spotting as the area is inhabited by monkeys. Whilst also on your ascent you will witness old monasteries built into the mountain, shrines and places of worship. Once you have hit the top you will have beautiful views of Popa Oasis.  Enjoy a delicious lunch at Popa Mountain Resort whilst taking in the spectacular views. Then, start your relaxing drive back to your accomodation in Bagan. On the way, take a short break at toddy palm plantation, visit a local village and get the chance to meet some of the locals.

6. From Yangon: Overnight Tour to Golden Rock and Bago

After getting picked up from your hotel in Yangon, begin the drive to Bago. Your first stop will be Kyaik Kat Wine Monastery. Watch as the monks walk down a large walkway to be bestowed with donations of food from the locals. Later, see the highlights of Bago, including the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the huge Reclining Buddha of Shwethelyaung, the four Giant Buddha images of Kyaikpun Pagoda and the excavation site and restoration work of Kanbawzathadi, the palace of famous King Bayinnaung. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing directly to Kim Pun Base Camp where you will spend the night at the Golden Rock Pagoda. The next morning, wake up early to see the sunrise over the magnificent golden rocks. After breakfast at the hotel, it's time to check out and head back to Kim Pun base camp. Later, drive back to Yangon, with a stop at Taukkyan War Cemetery. Here, see the graves of the Allied British soldiers who were killed in Burma. Get dropped off at your hotel in Yangon in the evening.

Enjoy pick-up from your hotel in the center of Bagan around 8:00 am and head to a local market. Experience the lives of Burmese people, as they buy their daily produce, meats and fish. Take some photos and soak in the local atmosphere. Move on to the Shwezigon Pagoda, a breathtaking, ancient Buddhist pagoda. Continue your adventure as you visit Gubyaukgyi Temple. Admire the beautiful mural paintings depicting the life of Buddha, found within the mysterious walls of the temple. Find yourself in Ananda Temple, one of the most famous of its kind. Wander around, viewing stunning architecture and picturesque wall paintings. Stand in thought before four Buddhas, made of solid teak wood adorned with gold leaf. 8. Inle Lake: Full-Day Lake Excursion Tour

Your tour will begin as your guide picks you up from your hotel in either Inle Lake or the Phaung Daw Side jetty. From here you will take a boat trip for an excursion on Inle Lake, which is 22 kilometers long and 11 kilometers wide. The lake itself is famous for its unique one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local method of fishing, and village life. You will continue your tour by visiting the Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, which houses five sacred Buddha images which are almost shapeless due to the quantity of gold leaf which has been applied by worshipers. In the afternoon, you will proceed to the silk-weaving village of In Paw Khon, where you will visit Nga Phe Chaung (one of the oldest monasteries around Inle Lake), complete with its jumping cats. Following that, you will be returned to your hotel where you can enjoy the sunset from the middle of the lake from a floating boat.

9. Yangon City: Full-Day Tour

At 8:00 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel. Start your full day of sightseeing by driving through the colonial style downtown, as well as Chinatown and the Indian quarter. Stop to take a photo at the City Hall and the Sule Pagoda with its golden chedi. Then, take a walk along Yangon River to see the busy harbor area and discover the upcountry towns along the Ayeyarwady River. Visit Botathaung Pagoda, said to contain Buddha relics. If requested, you can make a short visit to the 100 year old Strand Hotel.   Lunch will be served at Lucky 7 Tea house where you can choose from a variety of Burmese, Indian and Chinese food. Visit Bogyoke Market, formally known as Scott Market, which gives you the opportunity to see Myanmar's wide range of handicrafts. Explore the National Museum and discover the 8-meter-high golden Lion Throne and the Royal Regalia of Mandalay.  Then, proceed to the magnificent reclining Buddha at Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda. Take a photo at the Karaweik Hall, a golden floating barge on the Kandawgyi Lake. Conclude your day with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda. The golden dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tonnes of pure gold. After enjoying the sunset from the pagoda, you will be transferred back to your hotel at 6:00 PM.

Begin your tour at a colorful local market. Continue with a visit to the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan including Shwezigone Pagoda, which was a prototype of the later Myanmar stupa, Wetkyi Inn Gubyaukgyi Temple. See the fine mural painting of Jataka scenes, Htilominlo, and Ananda four standing Buddha images.  After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the lacquer ware workshop. Visit Pyadatgyi, Manuha Temple, and Gu Pyauk Gyi Pagoda. In the evening, travel by horse cart to see the highest temple in Bagan Thatbyinnyu, the massive Dhammayangyi Temple, and Sulamani Temple. Complete your tour by viewing the sunset at Shwesandaw Pagoda.
