Beautiful museum, worth the trip to see! Very large so plan on spending several hours to get through everything. Many Picasso and Dali paintings. A lot of great history about revolutions in Spain over women rights, lgbtq rights, etc. We loved it! There was not a line when we arrived so I don’t know if a skip the line ticket was necessary but it may have been the day we chose to go so better safe than sorry!

As a tourist who regularly visits Spain, I'd not been back to the Reina Sofia in several years. A Spanish friend who visited me in Madrid had never been (and never seen Guernica) , so it was a great time to re-visit. The contextualization of this masterpiece is incredibly important for those of us with limited knowledge of the Civil War. He was moved to experience this piece of his cultural heritage. The museum was well set up for social distancing, hand sanitizing, etc ... several galleries are closed to reduce volume in the building ... we also saw the Charlotte Johannesson retrospective and it was intriguing to see the works of this lesser known artist

As we approached the Reina Sofia the external elevator stood out and the Museum gave out a really modern feel. Our visit was on the 1st November and as luck would have it there was a lecture on Guernica. Our guide, Raoul, was delightful, warm and made the whole history surrounding the painting fascinating and memorable. Many thanks to him and the Museum. The Jorg Immendorf exhibition was absorbing and in general the displays were sensitively exhibited. A pleasant surprise shortly after entering the Museum was the inner garden which added an attractive extra dimension. I shall look forward to another visit when next in Madrid. It's a stunning gallery architecturally and internally well set out with a lack of crowding in terms of the art. It was a memorable experience.
