Go to the newly restored Museo Carmen Thyssen in Málaga, and see stunning examples of 19th-century Spanish and Andalucían art. You have the option to tour on your own, or with a guide for added information. Explore the permanent collection, temporary collection, or both. Whichever option you choose, you will get time to admire the beautiful 16th-century Palacio de Villalón, a key example of the city’s Renaissance architecture. The palace was built over the remains of the Roman city, within the old Moorish quarter of Málaga, and restoration focused on the recovery of its original layout, combined with newly built areas that co-exist in an understated manner. Arranged over 2 floors around a central courtyard, surrounded by arcaded galleries, particularly notable elements are the carved wooden ceilings and supporting fretwork in the principal rooms, where a number of 17th-century Spanish paintings are on display. Adjoining the palace are various new buildings designed in a contemporary style to house the permanent and temporary exhibitions. From its outset the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection has been admired for its wide-ranging scope and rigorous quality, presenting a comprehensive survey of 19th-century Spanish painting genres, with a particular focus on Andalusia.

Discover the main pictorial movements that characterized the Spanish and Andalusian painting of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century through this private collection: Museum Carmen Thyssen, one of the most famous museums in Spain. Visit the different floors in which the entity is divided: — Romantic landscape and costumbrismo: suggestive and exotic vision that authors such as Domínguez Bécquer, Villaamil or Guillermo Gómez Gil had from Andalusia. — Preciousness and naturalistic painting: you will witness how realism prevails in painting so that the works seem to come to life thanks to them. All this thanks to famous artists like Carlos de Haes, Raimundo de Madrazo or the essential Fortuny. — Old Masters: located on the same floor as the previous section and where remember personalities from the history of art at the level of Zurbarán. — End of the century: part of the entity in which you will see the innovations that took place in Andalusian painting at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, laying the foundations of modernity and avant-garde with such renowned geniuses as Sorolla, Zuloaga or Julio Romero de Torres.

It was a great way to see Malaga's beautiful old town and get our bearings. With a two-year-old, we appreciated that the tour is self-guided, allowing us to go at our own pace. It'll probably take an hour to an hour and a half of walking, but with stops to solve puzzles, get ice cream, and drag a toddler along the shiny pavements, it'll take longer. Mattias has created an excellent tour, complete with thoughtful touches and personal recommendations from him and his wife. I'd recommend it to anyone, but I think older kids would enjoy using the compass and solving the puzzles the most. We had a great time. Thank you very much, Mattias.

This was an amazing experience and such a great way to see malaga. The guide explains everything perfectly then you are set to see everything without a specific time frame or any pressure. We were given great recommendations in the treasure hunt book and used these to stop for drinks along the way. I've already re booked my next hunt with these guys. 10/10 would reccomend to all friends. It was very thoughtful, clever, extremely well laid out and above all else incredibly fun.

I did this with my 9 year old son. I booked specifically to give him something to look forward to that wasn't another history tour. We loved everything. The GPS was easy to use and we got to see so much of the city. We had fun figuring out the clues and finding our way along. We took our time and enjoyed the locations. The little book with instructions had great history as well. If you're looking for something a bit different I'd highly recommend this.

Everything was meticulously organized, down to the smallest details. A helpful guide, as well as a mysterious conclusion and a surprise at the end

Great way to see the city and the kids loved it, thank you.
