Paris: Musée de Montmartre and Gardens Entry Ticket

1. Paris: Musée de Montmartre and Gardens Entry Ticket

Immerse yourself in the history of Montmartre and its rich culture. Skip the ticket line and go directly to the museum which was once a meeting point and house for many artists. Discover the permanent collection and experience the montmate vibe. With your audio guide, learn about the rich history of Montmartre from the 19th century and when it was annexed to the city of Paris. From this moment on, the city imposed itself on the countryside of Montmartre. Artists started to move to Montmartre in 1870 and the cafes and cabarets multiplied in the 1880’s. Montmartre quickly became a place filled with effervescent bohemian spirit and creative energy. The most celebrated cabaret, the Chat Noir, welcomed several performances of the Théâtre d’Ombres, shadow theatre, created in 1866 by Henri Rivière and Henry Somm. Theatre, music, circus and dance all had a role in Montmartre. All of Paris came to listen to Aristide Bruant or Yvette Guilbert recite their texts or attend a performance by La Goulue, La Môme Fromage ou Grille d’Egouts, 3 dancers at the Moulin Rouge. Toulouse-Lautrec was one of the more assiduous artists in representing these performances. This effervescent bohemian spirit was also present in the artists’ studios: 12 Cortot witnessed the passage of several, most of whom lovingly painted their residence.  The museum also offers temporary exhibitions. The duration of the audio tour is 90 minutes but you are welcome to stay and explore the museum at your own pace.

Excellent tour. Stopped at four different shops and tried samples of chocolates, biscuits and pastries. All the while being told local history of where we were. We ended up sitting down to have wine, cheese and hams… amazing experience that I would definitely recommend. Take walking shoes though and be comfortable. You will be going up hill for most of it, but will arrive to the Sacre Coeur at the end. A must for foodie lovers. Stefan our tour guide was brilliant!!

The guide started the tour with a brief explanation of the area ... things I would not know before. Throughout the route the guide explained to us all sorts of anecdotes about the place. And of course with every explanation we had something delicious to eat Just to remind us it's a Culinary tour. Undoubtedly a large part of the tour was the guide's knowledge on every corner we stopped at to eat something delicious.

Our guide was very friendly and informative. We have really enjoyed trying all the different food Montmartre has to offer. It is a perfect way to learn about the area while trying local pastries, sweets, cheese and wine. This tour is also vegetarian friendly. We had an amazing time on this tour!

Our guide was charming, knowledgeable, careful. The tastes were great but the charcuterie board and wine tastings at the end were great as we enjoyed the repast and meeting talking with our fellow travelers. Great morning tour and tastings.

Don’t miss this gem of a museum with a gorgeous garden, vineyard, and views!
