Discover the rich blend of ancient and modern architecture of Muscat on a half-day city tour. Learn how the city has undergone dramatic development in the past 3 decades, yet managed to preserve its age-old culture and heritage. Your driver will show you how to use the audio guide system to benefit the GPS enabled commentary that follows the tour. Start with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and then continue through the Ministries' area to see a number of modern buildings with a touch of ancient, Islamic architecture. Go to the fish market and explore the narrow alleyways of the Muttrah souk to soak up the scent of exotic spices, coffee beans and ancient remedies. Learn more about the history of Oman at the Bait Al Zubair Museum. Take a souvenir photo at the magnificent Al Alam Palace, flanked by the twin Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali. We gingen eerst naar de moskee. Hier werden we hartelijk ontvangen en doordat we goed gekleed waren konden we zo door lopen. Het land is erg Gastvrij. We hadden een vriendelijke gids. Door het bezoek aan de vis en groente markt proef je o.a. de cultuur. Het was een mooie tour en we hebben veel gezien.

Maskat ist nicht sonderlich groß und so hat ein halber Tag gereicht um diese Stadt zu besichtigen. Unser Audioguide hat leider nicht von Anfang an funktioniert und da unser Fahrer wohl neu war, hatte er keine Ahnung dieses Problem selbstständig zu lösen. Es war etwas schade, da uns einige Informationen bis und um die Moschee fehlten. Wir fuhren mit einem weiteren Fahrzeug und der andere Fahrer war erfahrener und auch kommunikativer. Ich hätte mir auch gewünscht, dass während der Besichtigungen noch ein Guide etwas erzählt. Alles in allem hat aber zeitlich alles gut funktioniert und bei Fragen, hat man auch zufriedenstellende Antworten bekommen. Für Preis-Leistung kann man hier definitiv nicht mehr oder weniger erwarten, es waren auch alle Eintrittsgelder enthalten. Kann man empfehlen.

Von Anfang an hat alles super geklappt. Wie angekündigt wurde ich einen Tag vorher per WhatsApp kontaktiert. Da ich mit dem Flugzeug anreisten, müsste ein Treffpunkt gefunden werden. Es war ein Hotel Nähe Flughafen. Ich kam um 6:15 am an, Check-out dauerte 45 Min. so war ich um 7:30 Uhr am Treffpunkt. Abholung 8:00 Uhr. Sehr kompetenter Fahrer, erzählte viel schon während wir die anderen Teilnehmer auf der Fahrt von Hotels und Hafen abholen. Der deutschsprachige Audioguide vertiefte die Informationen des Fahrers zusätzlich (Fahrer sprach sehr gut englisch) und die Tour zeigte alle wichtigen Stationen. Letzte Station war der historische Markt von woraus ich auf eigene Faust weiter ging. Zurück zum Flughafen ging es per Bus (S1 und A1) sehr einfach (0,8 OMR). Das Geldwechseln am Flughafen war auch kein Problem. (Rechts vom Ausgang.) Tour ist sehr empfehlenswert auch bei 10 Std. Zwischenstopp.
