The splendor of Muscat is best experienced through an engaging trip past its monumental mosques, vibrant markets and beautiful merchant houses.
Beginning with a drive through the Embassy Quarter, you will head past the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, with its incredible Islamic architecture. Your guide will point out the highlights of this monument before heading to Muttrah, a peaceful and vibrant quarter of Muscat. Here you can stop by the fish market for a look at the daily sales, and stroll along the Corniche, past old merchant houses and lovely side streets. There's plenty of chances to catch a good deal shopping here, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that perfect souvenir!
Continuing the walking tour, you head to the Old Town, where you can pass towering Portuguese forts (Jalali, Qasr Al Alam,and Mirani) as well as the Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos. You will also have a chance to visit Bait Al Zubair Museum, which is a wealth of information of the country's structure, tradition and heritage. In the end, you will have a far deeper understanding of this incredible capital city, before parting ways to continue exploring on your own.

- Please wear loose long trousers/long skirts, long sleeves, and a head scarf for ladies. No shorts for men.
- Lightweight summer clothing is suitable for most of the year, but sweaters or jackets may be needed for the winter months, especially in the evenings. Good quality sunglasses are advised. Hats or some protection for the head are advisable too. The Sultanate of Oman has conservative dress traditions. Swimwear should be confined to the beach and hotel pools. Men and women should ensure shoulders and knees are covered when in public, especially in souks, shops and villages.
- Normal tourist photography is acceptable, but it is considered offensive to photograph Arab women. It is also courteous to ask permission before photographing men. Photographs of government buildings, police or military installations are not allowed.
- Due to ongoing COVID-19 protective measures, some of the attractions listed in the itinerary remain closed. As such, alternate visits/photo stops will be arranged.
