Full description

Take a 2-hour walking tour of Munich to discover one of the darkest moments in the city’s history, learning of the birth of Nazism, the rise of Hitler, and the infamous Third Reich.

In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated and humiliated nation, with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement, and one of history’s most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler.

Follow the inception of Nazism, from the first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus to the failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrnhalle. You will go to the site of party rallies at Königsplatz, and stop in the Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose Resistance Movement.

The tour covers all the important facts and sites that played a role in the origin of this dark chapter, which ended with the beautiful city of Munich in ruins and the second world war cutting deep wounds across Deutschland.

Josh was amazing! His knowledge and empathy really showed throughout the whole tour. He created an impactful, thoughtful, and educational experience! Highly recommend this tour for the spots we visited, the history behind them, and the deep dive into the history of WWII.

Josh was amazing and very down to earth and direct with the content and impact of the tour materials. Our tour was exceptionally difficult for him as Oktoberfest parades, church bells and crowds all caused havoc for him, but true to the professional he is kept us together and got the information across.

My mom and I enjoyed the tour very much. We stayed the entire time and learned a great deal about the history of Germany before WW2. Not only did we enjoy the tour and visiting the city by foot, but we really enjoyed how the tour guide had photos of the locations while the Third Reich was in power. It was almost like we were able to go back in the moment and experience the terror that the Nazi regime implemented in Munich. Our tour guide, Josh, was well informed about the history of the Nazi Party and presented his knowledge in a very interesting way. He was also very kind and helped me with my German. Danke für Ihren hilfe Josh, Ich werde weiter lernen- oh, und mein Kinderbuch ist “Read to me Mommy,” von Maria Wood an Amazon. Overall, we had a great experience. I would highly recommend this tour, it’s very important to remember history so that it does not repeat. It’s also a great way to get your steps in! -Maria und Lisa
