Full description

Visit the hometown of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a full-day tour from Munich. Travel by train and in the imperial city, visit his place of birth (optional), his residence, the streets he walked, and the cafés he drank in.

Salzburg is also one of the most popular set-jetting destinations in the world for one simple reason, “The Sound of Music.” Visit sites you will remember from the silver screen such as the beautiful Mirabelle Gardens where Julie Andrews and the children were filmed singing “Do-Re-Mi.” An expert guide will take you on a train ride from Munich to Austria. You will be provided with a map and get a 1.5-hour orientation tour through the major sites.

Explore one of the finest preserved medieval old towns in Europe, crisscrossed with romantic winding shopping streets and venerable market places adorned with outstanding architectural monuments of the later baroque era.

See piazzas and fountains, the stunning Domkirche Cathedral, pleasure gardens, palaces, and churches, monasteries and catacombs, and confectionaries and patisseries. You will also go to the oldest restaurant on the continent. You will then have 3 hours to explore the city for yourself, before meeting up for the return journey.

During your free time, you can visit the breathtaking 900-year-old fortress Festung Hohensalzburg, the magnificent edifice that dominates the city's skyline, itself framed by the spectacular encirclement of mountains stretching into the horizon.

The tour guide Suzanne was very knowledgeable and share with us all that she knows. Just that she didn't always count the number of pax in the group and we almost missed out 1 or 2 travelers. The meeting point (an agency) was about 5mins walk from the train station. Use google map and you'll be able to find. Took the train and traveled to Salzburg back and forth. If only we could end the tour a bit later timing would be good so there will be more time for Free & Easy. 3hrs wasn't enough cos lunch already took up 1.5hrs so only left 1.5hrs. By then when i finish shopping for souvenirs, i was only left with 30mins that was used to walk back to the meeting point...

We had a lovely day trip to Salzburg on the train. Elisabeth was a great guide who shared the history of both Munich and Salzburg with us on the train, taking around to some important sights and then leaving us to tour for about 3 hours alone, after giving us good tips of what to do. The highlight for us was Mozart's Birthplace Museum and getting the original Mozart Kugeln, and of course the Christmas Markets. We loved Elisabeth's Mozart Duckie so much that we bought our own! We should have spent the night there though, it's just so beautiful and there was more we would have liked to have done. That was the only drawback!
