Full description

Take a trip down the Romantic Road, a famous 220 mile route linking some of Bavaria's most exquisite architectural gems on a guided tour from Munich. Discover the natural beauty of the region, and the charming town of Rothenburg.

After departure from Munich, travel first to Harburg which is one of the oldest and best-preserved castle complexes in Germany. This perfectly situated castle with its surrounding village retains the feel of the middle ages. Be enchanted by its historic flair and delve deep into its history. After visiting the castle, and pausing for coffee, you will drive on through the wondrous scenery of the Nördlinger Ries – the giant depression left by an ancient meteor in the Swabian landscape.

Travelling via Dinkelsbühl, with its towers and spires, you will reach Rothenburg, a perfectly restored mediaeval town. Take some free time here for extensive exploration. Wander through the beautiful streets and alleyways, which are full of the charm of past times. Your return to Munich will take you through the largest hops-growing region in the world, the Hallertau. On this tour, be amazed by the beautiful region of southern Germany.

The tour organised well, guide at Harburg castelle was one of the best we ever saw! But, the guide in our bus was.. too nice, and her voice was too sweat and calmed, that we almost failed asleep.. At Rothenburg we did not have any walking tour and any explanation about Toppler, his coat of arms and it's meaning, she did not explain to us where is Old Rothenburg Craftsmen House, that we were interested to visit, and did not advise us, that it's open till 3pm only, but recommend us to have a lunch in particular restaurant ( which was good ), so when after lunch, finally we found Craftsmen House by our self - it was already closed, so we were really disuppointed about.. My recomendation - who ever interesting in history places - find information on line before visiting that magnificent, interesting and mystic city, which highly recommend to visit..

It was nice experience. It’s a birthday gift for myself. I’m glad that I made it in today’s trip, last time I wasn’t able to make it, got up late. Anyhow the tour in Harburg castle 🏰 and Rothenburg was amazing. It’s interesting to learn about historical things.

Great day out despite unseasonally cold weather. Our Guide Irmgatd was great and extremely well organised. There was no way her clear instructions could be misunderstood. She gave interesting information and she clearly enjoys her work. Would recommend this tour to anybody. By the way Harburg fortress is amazing too!
