Full description
Take a 3-hour walking tour of Munich and examine the infamous streets where some of the darkest stories of human history took root. Hitler referred to Munich as “Die Hauptstadt der Bewegung” (“Capital of the Movement”) and the city and its surrounds were central to the Nazi leader’s rise to power. During the tour, you will examine how a nation of people known for their level-headed thinking allowed what is perhaps the greatest tragedy of the 20th-Century to unfold, and how the world lay sleeping while the Nazis built their war machine and solidified power. You will discover how Munich has emerged from almost complete destruction during the Allied bombings and has been restored to its former glory. You will visit the famous Hofbräuhaus, the world's most famous beer hall, and the birthplace of the Nazi Party. You will also go to the Feldherrnhalle, Brienner Straße - home of the Nazi Party's powerbase – Führerbau – where the infamous Munich Agreement took place - Altes Rathaus, sites of the German resistance movements, memorials to victims of the Third Reich, and much more.

This was a terrific tour. Jake was very charming, and did a great job telling the story of the start of the third Reich in Munich. Also, as a cultural Chicagoan, it was very comfortable to roll along with my fellow Midwesterner. Overall, he has great knowledge, he is a wonderful presenter, and I was happy to learn more about Munich and history. Would very happily join him for another tour in the future.

Very interesting tour, focused on the uprising of the Nazi Party specifically. Not focused on the typical sights of Munich, but specific ones with background story. Our guide was very nice and charismatic and told the story with different viewpoints, details and humor. Good value for money and would recommend this tour if you are interested in history, specifically WW2.

I would highly recommend this. Our tour guide (Jax) was absolutely brilliant and very knowledgeable and obviously had a passion for his subject. There was a lot of interesting information and photos which left me with a greater understanding of the topic. Unfortunately I missed the last hour of the tour due to injury (which I incurred a couple of hours before the tour which left me with a sore knee), but I still had enough info to be able to research myself and would book on this tour again a second time without hesitation.
