Full description

Take a full-day tour from Munich to Hitler’s mountain retreat, located in the mountains above Berchtesgaden. Presented to him in 1939 as a 50th birthday present, the mountain chalet took 13 months to complete and includes an elevator bored through a tunnel in the rocks to reach the entrance. You will depart from Munich and drive along some of the most scenic roads in the German Alps. On arrival, a special bus will take you up to the Eagle´s Nest entrance area, where you will ride the elevator to the mountain peak, and into Eagle´s Nest itself. Look at beautiful views over the Alps, with free time on your own to explore. The lower rooms can be visited with an English-speaking guide, and offer views of the building's past through plate-glass windows. Graffiti left by Allied troops is clearly visible in the surrounding woodwork. A large fireplace in the restaurant shows severe damage along its lower edges, where soldiers have smashed off small shards of marble as souvenirs. Hitler's small study is now used as a store room for the cafeteria. After the tour, you will get more free time to go to the NS-Documentation-Center in Berchtesgaden, before the drive back to Munich.

Travel in a small group (an 8-passenger minibus) which allows for much more personalized contact and makes the day more enjoyable. We were lucky to be in a good group and to have a friendly driver, thank you Armin, available and attentive! The driver picked us up directly at the hotel for this excursion. We went to the Berghof (follow Arnim's advice to the letter to get to the site as quickly as possible). Despite rainy and overcast weather, we benefited from sunny spells at the top. Beautiful panorama, which I imagine even more grandiose under the sun (next time?!). We were able to stop in the forest to see the location of the old bunker. We took touristic and magnificent roads, the Deustche Alpenstrasse, which gives the trip even more exoticism. We then made a stopover in Berchtesgaden, a typical and charming little town. Excursion to do absolutely, even if there is a lot of road.

Omgggggggg what an amazing day spent with Mario, ( owner tour operator) and a handful of other tourists on this historical adventure.. From the getgo we were made to feel welcome and Mario ensured all our questions were answered whilst driving to our destination. The experience at Eagles nest was amazing and all very organised like clockwork . It’s a Long day from Munich but the drive there Coffee stop , trip up to eagles Nest , lunch stop in the village is all worth it . I highly recommend this trip as a must do when in Munich , it’s worth every euro and the day ♥️ Deb & Dave Australia

Our guide was fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the trip, the history of Germany and all the extra things he provided. The vehicle was very comfortable. The trip there and back was very scenic, even with cloud coverage. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to see the views and understand the history.
