Full description

Take a 5-hour tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, a place of memory and of education. To visit it can be a challenge, but also a deeply moving and memorable experience. A professional guide, trained and authorized by the Memorial site, will organize all travel arrangements, taking you on the return journey by train and bus from Munich.

You will get a comprehensive tour of the entire area, including all the surviving original buildings, the museum exhibition center, and the cinema, which screens an English language documentary film. The guides are trained to convey often difficult and disturbing material to you with sensitivity, with dignity, with respect for the victims, and without recourse to cheap sensationalism.

It was a very informative tour, the guide provided a lot of information but also some very strong opinions that may be a bit difficult to process for certain kind of people. I think that the guide Keith is good but he speaks too much! We were standing for periods of 15 or 20 minutes while he told us very informative and useful information but in a tour of this nature there has to be a balance. Also… I was hoping for a nice comfortable bus however they made us travel via train and public transport… for the £41 I paid, that seemed a little bit out of order.

Scott, our guide was excellent. Handled difficult material sensitively while not diminishing what had happened at Dachau. Clearly passionate about history and his new home country he was able to impart a real sense of the time and the context of events against the backdrop of the time. Would recommend to anyone looking to understand what happened here…and I’m sure any tour he gives in Munich would be similarly well researched and well delivered.

It’s was an opportunity to have a unique experience… The tour guide seemed to know a lot about it and he shared his thoughts and insights with us. If can pay the tour is great but if you can’t, you just go cause there is a lot of reading there and you can feel the history. Be aware if you go in the winter time as I did, wear clothes for negative degrees. It’s cold.
