Join this walking tour and explore the different facets of entrepreneurship and innovation that drives the community of Dharavi, one of the most densely populated areas in the world located in the heart of Mumbai. Additionally, discover the larger than life murals and street art painted by international artists and locals, celebrating the spirit of Dharavi. People from all over India have come to live in Dharavi, making it a microcosm of India. This diversity is apparent in the murals, temples, mosques, churches, and pagodas that stand side by side. On this walking tour, visitors experience a wide range of these business activities: recycling, pottery-making, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, poppadom-making and many more. The tour will also visit the residential areas and get a glimpse of street art in Dharavi. This educational tour aims to give visitors a much more nuanced understanding of life and work in Mumbai slums. Engage with your local guide and residents to gain a new perspective of this area. The tour itself was great; very impressive and educational. However, it was a 'normal' tour through Dharavi. We have not seen any street art. Better information about the times would also be nice; we assumed 3 hours. Start at 11.15, therefore until 14.15. We had a follow-up appointment with a taxi driver at 2.30 pm at the place where the tour started. However, it was with traveling much later that we were unable to honor our agreement. I find that annoying. The guide did his best to help but we had no number. So if the full time is indicated (you travel by train to ..., the excursion starts at 12 o'clock ...) would be better.

We are absolutely thrilled with this tour! Very informative, changes the "clichéd" way of thinking about slums and their residents in a positive way! Very stimulating to think, you get a lot of input that has to be processed in peace. The street art too! Each picture has its own meaning and message to people. Even though we were initially skeptical because of the fact that people could feel put on display there (strict photo ban in the slum !!! which is absolutely correct. We never once felt that we were not wanted), we now think: Should one made!
