Discover Hampi, the magical city of ancient India, famous for some of the most impressive centuries-old architecture in the country. Travel overnight from Mumbai to Hospet and then have plenty of time to explore the Hampi site on foot, by bike, or by car.
What to Expect
Hampi is known as a magnificent city of ruins. It is located in the state of Karnataka, beside the Tungbhadra River and 717 kilometers from Mumbai.
Hampi was the capital of the renowned Vijaynagar Empire from the 14th to the 16th centuries. There are over 3,000 temples in a relatively small area at this site. Some ornate, some simple, the temples speckle the landscape, ranging in size from large to small. You'll see the royal elephant house, the Vitthala temple, the queen's bath, and much more.
Day 1: Mumbai to Hospet / Hampi
In the afternoon you will be picked up at the Mumbai airport, bus or railway station, cruise terminal, or your hotel and proceed to the bus station, where you’ll take a semi-sleeper air-conditioned Volvo bus to Hospet. The approximate travelling time is 12 hours. There won't be a guide on this overnight bus ride
Day 2: Hampi
Early in the morning, you’ll arrive in Hospet city, located about 1 hour from Hampi. You will be picked up by an auto-rickshaw (tuk-tuk)and driven towards Hampi. After arriving at your hotel or resort, you can explore the area on your own.
Day 3: Hampi
Today your driver will take you on a full-day Hampi sightseeing tour, including the Hampi Bazaar, Krishna Temple, the Elephant Astabal (stables) and much, much more. The tour will last 9 hours and conclude at Sunset Point.
Day 4: Hampi
Today, you can hire a bicycle or motorbike and explore places across the river. For example, you can visit the Hanuman Temple, the Lotus Pond, or the Durga Temple located at the top of a mountain. Enjoy views of the beautiful countryside from above. The climb takes approximately 1 hour.
Day 5: Return to Mumbai or go on an optional journey to Goa
It’s important to let the tour operator know in advance whether you would rather return to Mumbai or take the optional tour to Goa.
The bus to Mumbai will leave at 18:00 from Hospet, and the bus for Goa will leave at 19:30 from the Hampi market. You'll be dropped off at the Mumbai bus station.

Know Before You Go
Please provide the local tour operator with your arrival details in advance. You'll get reserved private seats on all transport.
Groups of up to 3 participants will receive 1 private hotel room – groups of 4 participants will receive 2 private hotel rooms.
You won't be accompanied by any tour operator representatives when you travel to and from Hospet, but there will always be representatives present for pick-up and drop off.
When booking, please provide the local tour operator with your name, gender, age, and a copy of a valid ID, such as a passport or driver's license. This information is required to book your tickets.
Watch out for 'touts' – locals who may approach you soliciting goods or services.
The bus for Hospet departs at 17:15 from Mumbai and arrives approximately 12 hours later. The bus will stop 3-4 times for toilet and food breaks along the way.
The bus for Mumbai departs at 18:00 from Hospet, and the bus for Goa departs at 19:30 from the Hampi market.
