Started the day at the meeting point and because we weren't slot of ppl we didn't drive with a bus but with 2 van that was separated for the English and Russian speakers. Our driver made a big difference for the trip! He was absolutely great! Entertaining, pleasent and informative. He stopped at a few point even some just for 5 min to see and get a picture which was great! At Salzburg the tour was fine. With 2 languages you had to wait at each place for the other language to finish. The tour guide was really nice. (At some point me and my wife decided to leave the tour, for time purposes, we ate lunch walked around and walked up to the view point of the city . All in all we are very happy we did this trip :)
We were very happy with our driver, Alex, he was most helpful and stopped at the best places for food and pictures. We had a local guide in Salzburg, and she took us around on foot to visit Mirabelle Gardens, Corn Lane, some lovely old cathedrals, and all things Mozart! We had free time to take the funicular up to the fort, from where you have a magnificent view of the city and canals. The lakes we stopped at were picturesque and serene, and Alex gave us time at Mondsee Lake to go down to the water and have fun in the sun, it was a memorable day and a smooth ride.
Was very handy purchasing this card online and picking it up at the arrivals hall in Vienna Airport. Please note this travel card does not cover airport to Vienna city centre trains so there will be extra fees for that but as there were 4 of us we arranged for taxi's. Using the travel card was very easy. We got a 72hour card and it lasted us for the weekend. Vienna is quite easy to get around using public transport. Would highly recommend it.
We had a free pick up from hotel which at 6.45am was great so we dint have to find the pick up location, our tour guide Thomas was very very good he had planned the day even to the type of music on the coach that incorporated what was with in the trip and also his knowledge of the area and friendliness, was great ! a most enjoyable day out.
the 3 day ticket was most useful / valuable when used for public transportation. with a few trips per day x 3 days, the cost of the 3 day vienna card is quickly amortized. the discount at museums was less useful, as the senior (65+) discount rate was almost always lower than the vienna card rate.
