You must exchange your voucher at the ticket office before the tour begins. The ticket office is located at the Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri railway station next to the Circumvesuviana train station. There is a red kiosk with the signs "Pompei Tickets" and "Vesuvio tour".

Versuvius is amazing to see but be aware that when they say you walk the last 300 meters, they mean 300 meters vertically (not horizontally…) on a gravel dusty track that is about 40 degree angle. The actual crater is fascinating. It is deep and you can walk around it for about half of the way. The views are amazing. The bus trip up was great but the driver turned the aircon off about 15 mins before we got back down and the bus was stifling with no openable windows.
