Full description

Your tour will begin from the historical city center of Naples, from where you will head to Mount Vesuvius. This tour provides you with a unique opportunity to reach the most characteristic locations of this historic region. After about 1 hour of driving through the city, you will begin to pass through a national park that features amazing views of the Bay of Naples. You will ascend to 1,000 meters in your bus, from where you will take a walking path up to the crater. Once here you can admire breathtaking views, and learn more about local geology from your volcanological guide. You can listen to explanations about the many transformations of the mountain due to its volcanic nature from a professional alpine guide, who will provide great insight as to how and why this great nature force was able to destroy Pompeii and Herculaneum. You will then have time to walk around and take pictures before re-boarding your bus and returning to Naples.

We were informed of the meeting point in good time the day before and the driver arrived promptly. Admittedly, it was a far steeper walk up to the point where we met the guide than I expected. However, once there we had an excellent guide who gave us such interesting facts and history of the region. Our group thoroughly enjoyed it.

Don’t be too picky on the time slot they will contact you before the day. For us it was about 22:00. Even if late, they will contact you. Pick-up, just go to one of their pick-up locations. Everything just run smoothly. They will pick you up with a small Mercedes van. Very comfortable. Small group. I recommend.

I super recommend this tour. They pick you up with the bus and take you to the highest base on the volcano so you don't have to walk too much. On arrival you have 2 hours of free time which is enough to walk up, look around, buy souvenirs and return. Perfect! They even offered an option to see the ruins of Ercolano and get picked up again.
