Amazing experience! The volcanologist guide (Leonardo) was great, he stoped constantly to tell something about Etna and so people could rest. He also took alternative routes, which gave a different experience, compared to hiking by yourself. The path was much easier than I expected. The driver (Bruna) was also great, she spend the whole trip telling stories about the small villages around Etna and giving tips about the region. I totally recommend this tour!

We had an amazing tour with Edoardo as our guide! He’s incredibly knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and really attentive to everyone’s needs. The hike is challenging, but Edoardo takes great care to pace the group, providing frequent breaks to catch some breath and making sure everyone feels comfortable. He explains things in a way that's easy to understand, even drawing diagrams in the ash to help illustrate his points, all while keeping the mood light with a few jokes. Standing on top of an active volcano, above the clouds and in the sunshine, felt nothing short of magical. We came away with an unforgettable experience—highly recommended!

Full description

Ascend to the summit of the craters of Mount Etna, one of the most coveted excursions a hiker can make. Hike with guide, and marvel at the beauty and wonder of the highest active volcano in Europe, up to about 3,000 meters. Depart from Sapienza Refuge in Nicolosi, and ascend 2,504 meters by cable car and begin your hike. You’ll hike 1.5 hours uphill, passing many craters, in particular towards the crater of the 2001 eruption and the moon-like landscape that marks out the area. During the hike you will take long pauses to take pictures and rest. You will then carry on exploring on your hike towards the Cisternazza and the Belvedere on the Valle del Bove, considered the best panoramic spot on Mount Etna on a dazzling volcanic depression dating back to 64,000 years ago! Here you will take a break to cherish the surroundings, take a few pictures and simply admire the landscape as from up there you are able to see the coast from Taormina until Syracuse. From here you will reach the Barbagallo craters, up to almost 3,000 meters, the highest point allowed, and enjoy a privileged view on the summit craters and their constant emission of gases and water vapours. Then you will march back to 2,500 mt and take the cable car back to the Rifugio Sapienza. Experience the incredible feeling of being on top of the world in this rocky, beautiful landscape with the giant sky above you.

Amazing experience, I really enjoyed it! I was on an excursion at 1st November. Our guide was friendly, supportive and informative and our driver Bruna was amazing! She not only picked up in time but also drove through the small villages so I could enjoyed the view. Very recommended!
