Full description

Enjoy a physical challenge with rewarding views on this guided climb to the top of Etna. Ride the cable car then trek to the summit. Take breaks along the way and capture unique photos of the summit craters.

Meet your guide in Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza. After getting your equipment and enjoying an initial briefing, begin your hike to the top of Mount Etna, which sits at 3,300 meters above sea level.

Take the cable car to quickly reach an altitude of 2,500 meters, then a special 4x4 bus to 2,900 meters, near Torre del Filosofo. Neither the cable car nor the bus is included in the tour price.

From there, start the 2-hour ascent, taking intermediate breaks to enjoy the views during the trek. Walk through the lunar-looking lava fields that will lead you right to the summit of Etna: the highest active volcano in Europe. Admire the peculiar features that characterize the summit area.

Begin the descent through fun sands. Visit Mount Etna's Barbagallo flank craters and a lava flow channel. Finally, take the cable car downhill again to return to the starting point.

Great experience! We had a memorable day. First for the site and its majesty, but also thanks to the professionalism and generosity of Massimo, our guide. A passionate, caring and fun guy! Recommended to everyone! The Ashara team are real professionals, well equipped, who work in complete safety. Be in the blue helmets team.

Great experience but they should change the description since it hasn’t been possible to go to the summit since 2019, but we were able to go to 2950 meters and it was an enjoyable experience. Also it’s kind of in fine print but you also need $30 Euros for the cable car ride in addition to price of the tour.
