  • Travel around off-road passages through old lava flows
  • Trek past and admire the most recent lava flows
  • Follow quiet paths away from the tourist trails
  • Walk around the valle del bove, the biggest Etna's caldera
Full description

Embark on a trek of iconic Mount Etna with a naturalist guide. Take in outstanding views, learn local history from your guide, visit a lava cave, and see the southeastern crater, Etna's most active area. Enjoy included trekking poles, shoes, and warm clothing.

Following your pickup, you will head in the direction of Etna. Passing off-road through Trazzere where you can see the lava flows of 1792, your guide will explain the fauna and flora of the volcano of Etna.

Learn Mount Etna's history as you travel in the direction of the Bove Valley, which is an ancient caldera formed about 64,000 years ago due to the collapse of 2 major eruptive centers. You'll soon arrive at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, where your hike starts. Follow quiet trails away from the tourist paths. Pass recent lava flows and soak up views of the coastline. Throughout the trek, you can stop to taste sandwiches and local products, at your own expense, and visit a lava cave. At the conclusion of your experience, you will be returned back to your point of origin.

This was one of the most fun and exciting things I have ever done. The guides were outstanding and gave us a lot of the history of the mountain and the volcano The description for this is more strenuous than I thought. If you are not in modest shape you will have trouble completing this They stop in a little town and you can buy an amazing local sandwich that they recommend. It’s €3. Buy it. Best sandwich I ever had. You can also get water there for €1 for a liter bottle. If you have a small backpack bring it and I would bring a snack (piece of fruit or energy bar) to eat on the way up. Going up is a lot of strenuous work. Coming down is fun and exhilarating

Very funny and smart guide who managed excellently our group with diverse fitness levels. For a couple of participants, it might have been challenging. But with a generally good fitness level and some hiking experience, it's a moderate hike with incredible views, interesting explanations and fun descents for those accepting some game and speed downwards.

Our guide Marco did a great job. He is really enthusiastic about his work and gave us very interesting information about the volcano. The hike was really off the tourist paths and gave us wonderful views. We were also provided with hiking shoes, sticks and wind jacket, which came in very handy. We recommend this tour to anyone that likes hiking and experiencing something new.
