What People Are Saying About Moulin Rouge
We opted for dinner on the Eiffel Tower, rather than on the cruise, so as not to be distracted by eating while cruising the River Seine. The evening starts at the Tour Office, right near the Eiffel Tower. You are taken by Minibus and go straight past the crowds and up to dinner. You have time after dinner to go by stairs up to the second level of the Tower. Keep an eye on the time, as it's quite a wait for the elevator to get from the first floor back to ground level. There are only Emergency stairs down, which are blocked off. After dinner you walk for 2or 3 minutes to the river to catch the cruise boat. What a brilliant experience, as you go under all the bridges and are given a guided tour in multiple languages. Afterwards you reconnect with your driver, who takes you to the Moulin Rouge. It's all very organized and efficient getting to your seat. Men, it is formal dress. A tie would be good, but jacket is now optional. Especially if you go in summer.
I considered the package to be a value-for-money experience overall and the hosts were excellent. Of particular value was the mix-and-match strategy the hosts employed to ensure all guests were grouped by language, culture, and number mix. A strong-point was the excellent "return-to-hotel" transport in the early morning hours - very much appreciated. A small detractant is that a number of the performers in the Moulin Rouge troupe appeared disconnected in their role (appeared to be "going through the motions", and a few of the performances lacked relevance (the clowns) for example. The gymnasts and the juggler were excellent.
The ground crew and tour guide were outstanding and the coach captain went above and beyond. Had a great night thanks! Only disappointing let-down was the "1/2 bottle" that was included in the package for each person which turned out to be only 1 glass. When raising this with the 1st attendant about 1/2 way through the show we were advised that he would get some for us only to never see him again. When raising this with the 2nd waiter he indicated that the show was almost over. When pushing the issue further indicating the package inclusion he raised a manager who to add insult to injury tried to tell us that the 1/2 bottle was poured into the glass at the beginning of the show - this was clearly a lie. For what could have only been 1 glass of champagne on 1st request, the service, or lack there of, did somewhat mar the evening which outside of this experience would have been an absolutely perfect evening. Please pass my extreme disappointed on to the Moulin Rouge management. Thanks
