Dive into one of the greatest battles between the Soviet Union and the United States – the Space Race. Although throughout the Cold War there was never a direct confrontation, their constant rivalry was felt nowhere better than in the Space Race.
What to Expect
Your personal private guide will pick you up at your hotel and accompany you to the Museum of Cosmonautics. While travelling to the museum your guide will share with you a brief history of the Soviet Union’s technological achievements that enabled the country to succeed during WWII and eventually become a superpower.
As you walk through the halls of the museum you will hear the incredible stories of Yuri Gagarin – the first man in space - and of the mastermind behind the Soviet astronaut program, Sergei Korolev.
After visiting the museum you will be accompanied to VDNKh – which literally translates to the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy. Constructed in 1935, it is a perfect demonstration of the Soviet architectural style and takes visitors back to the times of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushev.
After this tour you will have a better understanding of Soviet history regarding both the origins of the Cold War and certain actions of the Soviet government. After the tour your guide will be happy to accompany you back to your hotel or suggest a good place to eat or get souvenirs.
