We begin the boat trip passing through the small channels of River Crmnica that leads from Virpazar to the open lake, a large area that offers a first approach to the immensity of the lake. Here, we can see in the distance other part of the lake that connects with Albania, and it is possible to perceive their mountains. Then, passing under a bridge (where pass a famous railway to join Serbia on the main road « Belgrade -Bar » ) you will have a view on the legendary fortress Lessendro built in the 18th century by our king Petar II Petrovic Njegos. We continue our cruise on the Moraca river, seeing the biggest island of the lake called « Vranjina », on the way. The bridge links the two villages, Vranjina and Virpazar by the main road. Passing through a small natural bird reserve, you can see crested grebes, grey herons, cormorants and other bird species. You will discover the perfect beauty of nature as you pass through small canals carved out of the reeds. Once we’ve crossed these canals, you will discover a vast area of the Skadar lake covered by water lilies, white lotuses and other species (depending on the season). This vast area offers an incredible panoramic view of the floating plants. Lake Skadar is an ideal place for fishing and bird-watching, as there are many species of fish and birds. During the boat trip, listening to the sounds of the birds and observing nature offers an interlude of peace, serenity and relaxation. The tour starts from the city's main square, which, although reconstructed, still speaks of another time when the name of the city and the country were different, Titograd and Yugoslavia. Walking in the first part of the tour through the pedestrian zone of the city center, we will get to know the main sights of the city and learn about the historical development of the city. Not long after, we reach the river bed of Morača, the city's most famous river, one of the 5 rivers that flow through different parts of the city. We will enjoy the view of the beautiful river bed, the green color of the river, the bridges that connects two parts of the city. We will learn more about how important the river is for the people of Podgorica and in what ways they know how to enjoy its charms. Further, the tour takes us through the old historical core of the city, the old town, which owes its current appearance to the long presence of the powerful Ottoman Empire. We will walk through the old streets, get acquainted with the typical architecture of the Ottoman period of rule over the city, the customs and way of life of the local residents. The last part of the tour is reserved for parts of the city that radiate a different city energy and tell us about the lifestyle of some new generations. Embark on an enchanting journey from Podgorica city to the mesmerizing Biogradska Gora National Park, a route celebrated for its breathtaking views along the Moraca River canyon. Enter the realm of Biogradska Gora, a pristine and ancient forest that stands as one of the oldest in the EU. Not only is it one of the last remaining rainforests, but it also holds the distinction of being a heartfelt gift to the Montenegrin king from the local community. Just 10 or 15 minutes after departure and leaving the city, we will immerse ourselves in another world, the canyon of the Morača river, which leaves you breathless with its cliffs and depth of over 1000 m. Driving for about 40 minutes with a couple of stops in the most interesting parts of the canyon, we will enjoy the view of the clear water of the river, and the canyon that the river have been carving through the limestone areas for centuries. After around 1 hour from the start of the tour, we will reach one of the oldest and most interesting monasteries in Montenegro, the Morača Monastery. Built in the middle of the 13th century, for centuries a religious but also an educational center of a part of the country, known for its significant role in the liberation of Montenegro from the Ottoman Empire, it will tell us a lot about the history of the country and the way of life in these parts. Built in a very interesting place, where the river flows, the stream, in the immediate vicinity of the waterfall, with a nice yard, surrounded by old forests is a wonderful sight to see. And the interior of the monastery is a story itself. Frescoes and icons made by the best artists will bring you closer to the aesthetic scope of Byzantine artistic expression. After visiting the monastery, we continue to the north of Montenegro, a region known for its high mountains, old forests, rivers, glacial lakes and the mountain lifestyle. We will enjoy a panoramic drive through the mountainous regions and along the banks of the famous Tara River until we reach the Biogradska Gora National Park and its pearl, Biogradsko Lake. The park is particularly famous for its old forest, one of only a few larger intact forests in Europe, rich flora and beautiful glacial lakes. We will enjoy walking along the easy path around the lake, admire the impressive examples of woody flora, discover other typical representatives and breathe fresh mountain air. The park is also a great place for a picnic or tasting local specialties in a nearby restaurant after a nice walk. In the end, before we head back to Podgorica, it would be a shame not to visit and get to know the Montenegrin mountain center, the charming town of Kolašin, famous for its ski resort, Bjelasica Mountain, tango festival, significant historical role in the struggle for the liberation of Montenegro, but also for quality alcoholic drinks and delicious homemade food.

You can't overlook it – it lies at the entrance of this beautiful townlet, and although built in the 15th century, it still looks impressive. After exploring the village, it's time to go back.
