This eco-friendly Montserrat hike is a fantastic hiking tour near Barcelona which results in a minimal ecological footprint. Your guides will provide you with a zero CO2 emissions transfer with a railway journey from Barcelona to Monistrol village. This journey is led by a local mountain guide.
From Monistrol, you’ll start an unforgettable hiking experience. You can choose from 2 difficulty levels of hiking:
• Sports hike: 7 miles, with 3,300 feet elevation gain, lasting for 6 hours
• Performance hike: 10 miles with 4,500 feet elevation gain, lasting for 7-8 hours
Both hikes pass through a variety of terrains and landscapes of Montserrat.
This tour is a complete hike that will help you learn why the Mountain of Montserrat is a religious icon known all over the world. Throughout the route you’ll learn of the geology of the mountain, including many things that make it unique. You’ll admire many hermit houses where monks spend long hours in prayer, and following your hike, you’ll visit the Benedictine monastery, which is nestled in the cliffs of the mountain.

You will meet at the railway station at España Square on the railway “Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya” station. The mountain guide will join you at this location. You’ll find your guide downstairs in front of the automatic ticket machine where you’ll purchase a shared return ticket to Monistrol. The cost per person is about 7,05€.
