Full description

We will show you how to create the best tasting a Costarican bread using only items you will find at home, no industrial equipment needed. While the dough is rise we'll also make delicious empandas and impress family and friends with hot out of the oven fresh bread rolls using dry instant yeast. The workshop will be a combination of demonstrations as well as following along and making your own, concluding with some drinks where you get to eat and taste everything you have learned to prepare and bake.

My friend and I really enjoyed this activity. Our hostess, Carolina, was well prepared for us, even though we had only booked the night before. The setting is the family farm, with a large covered open-air working space. Carolina shared her grandmother’s recipe for making empanada dough and also a sweet bread. We even used Grandmother’s spoon for mixing! We made bean and cheese empanadas, pineapple empanadas, and various shaped sweet bread. Our reward at the conclusion was to eat our treats with a fresh cup of coffee. Carolina shared the recipes so we could make them at home— which we will! It was a very pleasant morning conversing with our new friend, baking, and then breaking bread together. And we got to take home the leftovers to our husbands!
