Day trips

We hired an excellent private guide—much nicer than a group tour and well worth the additional cost. The cloud forest was great—we saw quetzals and other birds & wildlife while we walked the trails, including crocodiles—these are rescue animals who are in a small sanctuary of their own. Lots of butterflies, including blue morphos. When my partner asked about the blue morpho caterpillars we were immediately handed live ones—so cool as we held them in our hands—they are beautiful in their own exotic way. The blue morphos are studied and cared for at this location. These experiences were followed by a trip to a private property with a bird feeding station. We were particularly interested in seeing toucans—we saw two of the four species in Costa Rica, big thrill for us. Many other birds as well. There was a restaurant at the property with “comida tipico”—very tasty. Very satisfying tour—highly recommended!
