Wow what a fabulous way to learn about Monterey and support local businesses. Marty our tour guide was fabulous, she was knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about each restaurant on our stop. She would share stories about what made each restaurant unique. We even met several of the owners who stopped by our table to talk about the dish or bring out more samples of food. The price is worth it and you will not leave hungry. I highly recommend taking this food tour. You will not be disappointed.

We were in the Monterey area for the weekend. We'd never been to central California and decided to take a local food tour to get an idea of what the locals like to eat. We met our group in front of the pier at the Old Fishermans Wharf- easy to find. The small group was perfect and our guide was kind and enthusiastic. She was so lovely and energized, I'm sorry to have forgotten her name (former pharmacist from SF). Our guide knew her stuff and gave us a lot of historical tidbits about the area- very interesting! We were greeted with a small pastry from a local French bakery then made our way around the area to six restaurants. This is a walking tour so be prepared with good walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Our guide was kind enough to bring and offer sunscreen. Don't be like us- use sunscreen, we ended up sunburnt. The locations were all unique and delicious, great variety, and definitely enough food to keep you full for the rest of the day. Foods included Italian, American, Greek,

Our guide, Lika, was very friendly and made our tour interesting with lots of details about the places we visited. She greeted us with a morning pastry sample from a local bakery as we waited for our group to assemble. We proceeded to visit 4 restaurants, each unique and lively, and ready for us. The food samples included drinks of our choice (wine and beer). We sampled fish tacos, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, curried potatoes, and lobster ravioli. Our last stop was an ice cream store featuring its original "Bees' Knees" flavor. There we were even treated to a tour of their production room! Everything was delicious!! I appreciated how Lika did not rush us and we had time to enjoy our food and drinks as well as getting to know our other tour members. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with discovery.
