Top attractions in Montego Bay
MoBay, as it's affectionately known, brings the reggae spirit to its world-class resorts, gorgeous beaches, and historic landmarks. Here's a round-up of the best sightseeing and recreational experiences in Jamaica's most scenic city!
Built in 1770, the house is said to be haunted by the ghost of Annie Palmer, the White Witch of Rose Hall! If that gives you the creeps, don't tour the colonnial mansion by night!
The bay began attracting tourists in the 20s when a British doctor declared that the water here had healing powers! Does it? All we know is that the scenery is as dazzling as ever!
Near Doctor's Cave Beach is the city's "Hip Strip." Nowadays the shops are dominated by souvenir vendors, but it also boasts some of the city's best cafés, bars, and art galleries.
The picturesque river is one of Montego Bay's top attractions. Relax on a bamboo raft and learn about Martha Brae's history and wildlife from a local guide.
If you're here for a romantic getaway then Sandals is the place to stay! Guests get free access to the pristine island beach, complete with jacuzzi, pool, Thai restaurant, and bar.
Hummingbirds descend on you upon arrival at this immersive bird sanctuary! It's home to thousands of exotic and endemic species, many of which guests can feed by hand.
The restored mansion grants visitors a glimpse at 18th-century plantation life. Tour its antiques, sugar mill, and tropical gardens, then finish with a traditional Jamaican lunch!
The temperature around Montego Bay is consistently warm year-round, but don't be fooled by the huge hotel deals throughout the summer! April until November sees Jamaica at its rainiest, and it's also prone to hurricaines. Winter is Montego Bay's peak season for a reason, so be sure to book your trip with plenty of time to spare!
Jamaica has a relatively high crime rate, but it is largely limited to certain urban neighborhoods. For the most part, the people are incredibly welcoming, and you'll have nothing to worry about at the resorts. If you choose to leave the tourist areas for whatever reason, stick to reputable tour operators and avoid flaunting your valuables.

What people are saying about Montego Bay
It was nearly half the price to book this day through GetYourGuide and not the resort. The resorts typically mark things up considerably by playing on xenophobia about local guides and taxis -don't listen and just use common sense. Mystic Mountain is a well-known theme park in the area that has their own buses. The Bobsled is a hilarious good time. The electric ATV's which are a new addition are equally fantastic fun. The Sky Lift is a little terrifying but ultimately we were there for thrills so we sucked it up. Bottom Line: Go to Mystic Mountain and use GYG - you will love it and save a ton of cash. Cheers
Fritz was a great host. Very knowledgeable about all the birds that visit his feeders. Loved every minute of it. This is a must visit for serious birders who come to Jamaica. You should advertise this place to the birding community. I'm researching all the birds I photographed to properly identify. Many of them are endemic to Jamaica.
Great Value for the money! Very Organized-simple Pick up at Airport & On time/Simple Pick up at Hotel. They tend to make several stops at other Hotels, so it does take a little more time than having a personal pick-up, but worth the value in my opinion.
30$ for pictures and a bit cold in the bus But loved that Washington took good care of us and it was just a nice experience. Once in a lifetime I recommend it.
Claude, our driver was an excellent guide. He gave us great ideas and selections. Very informative. He also is honest and trustworthy!
