Just an hour's drive from Valencia, embark on a picturesque adventure in Montanejos. Set off on a guided hike, take in views of the surrounding landscapes, see the mighty Chorro, and enjoy the natural pools ("Fuentes de los Baños"). Begin your day with a morning hike through the mountains and make your way along the Mijares River, enjoying views of the town and the majestic river. The path eventually leads to the Chorro, a powerful water jet that unleashes 300.000 liters of water per minute, a mesmerizing spectacle. Take a dip in the thermal pools (Fuentes de los Baños), said to have been built by Moorish king Abu Zeit to ensure the beauty of his queens. Maintaining a temperature of 23°C throughout the year (so it may seem cooler in summer), they're known for their mineral-rich composition, both relaxing and good for your health.

  • The hiking part of the tour is not mandatory (alternatively you can stay at the natural pools)
  • The difficulty of the hiking trail is moderate. It is approximately 9 kilometers long. You need to be able to walk up and down hills in the heat. It is accessible to everyone with good health, a reasonable level of fitness, and appropriate footwear
  • During the summer season, the hiking route may be adapted due to the heat. The distance will be approximately 5-6 kilometers. You will still be able to experience the main highlights including the jetstream
  • For safety reasons people aged +65 are not allowed to join the hiking

It was a wonderful experience, guides were so sweet and welcoming, we saw such beautiful sights and learned a lot of interesting stories! Personally I’d say this is a must, if you’re in Valencia. At the start of the hike there were some harder trails to walk, since we were going up the mountain for a while, but it was nothing impossible, guides weren’t rushing anyone, you can go on your own pace, manage to take in a lot of mesmerising sights and a good amount of breaks to rest, drink some water and rejuvenate. Later on we had an opportunity for a swim and sunbathing with a breathtaking view. Me and my mom loved everything. Even though we weren’t in our best shape, we enjoyed it fully!

I had a great time on this one day excursion. The highlight was definitely bathing in the Natural Pools (don’t forget to bring bathing shoes!). The hike was great as well and Francesco and Marco were two very friendly and communicative guides.

Occasionally guide started talking before everyone arrived at a certain point, but what she had to say was really interesting. The roads were really winding up to Montanejos. However I'd recommend this trip to anyone for the stunning views. An amazing introduction to Valencian region.
