A great day trip to enjoy such a beautiful part of Tuscany. Note we are 2 vegans from Aus and it worked fine. First, a winery in a lovely rural setting to taste their reds. Next, beautiful Montalcino, where we had about 45 minutes on our own to explore the small and very pretty main street. We grabbed the chance to take away an espresso and cornetto (croissant) from the corner cafe straight off the bus. Then onto Pienza - another delightful small town, easy to explore, and spectacular views of the Tuscan hills. With 2 hours on our own, we found a lovely spot where the cafe put together a nice panini for our lunch. The final village we visited was Montepulciano. Truly a gorgeous but very hilly place, so be prepared to puff a bit. We enjoyed another wine tasting in a magnificent setting, followed by about an hour to explore by ourselves. We found a nice gelateria to round things out. A long day, but the coach was comfy (driven expertly by Massimo) and our guide Lorenza was really nice.

Excellent value for money! There are two wineries, one in Montalcino and the other in Montepulciano, with lunch in Pienza. The time in Montalcino was too short; it could have been two hours instead of one, because it is during the city tour that we can buy the wines, and the markets have more options than the winery and the prices are much better. Please note that Montepulciano, the last stop, has very steep hills, and these routes are part of the tour of the winery's centuries-old cellars! Tour 10/10.
