Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

Board an Amalfitan Gozzo boat for a scenic ride along the Amalfi coast. Admire natural wonders, including the Natural Arch and Faraglioni Rocks. Swim and snorkel or relax on the shores of secluded beaches. Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how you're going to spend the day, you will be ready to set off to the west towards Positano. The route will take you along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving you the opportunity to admire the old watchtowers that dot the entire length of this coast. You will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, you will get close to Saint Andrew's Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, you will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later you will cruise in front of the ancient fishing village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here you will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini you will enter its western basin, where you will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where you will anchor for a break to go swimming or snorkeling. You will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating a little farther onward to the village of Praiano you will be able to have a close look at a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally you will go round Capo Sottile and continue cruising to Positano, where you will have another break for snorkeling at a beach reachable only by the sea and so not crowded at all: La Porta. The return trip to Amalfi will give you a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how we're going to spend the sunset hours, we will be ready to set off to the west towards Praiano. The route will take us along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into fjords, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast. The return trip to Amalfi will give us a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land. Please note: this tour is mainly about enjoying the sunset hours while relaxing with drinks and good music rather than snorkeling. If you are looking for a tour more focused on snorkeling you might be interested in our other tours.

This was hands down one the highlights of our trip so far! Our guide Giampaolo was so kind and so wonderful he was informative about the sights and made sure we were all enjoying our time, my husband cut his finger and he quickly cleaned him up and bandaged him. His energy was great and stopped to make sure we got the best photos, the weather wasn’t too hot but none the less we made the best of it and jumped into the water at the swimming spots which were unreal and the water was quite refreshing. We lucked out and had the most amazing group of people on the boat with us and we all vibed really well, they’ve become friends of ours which we may later see through our travels. I honestly couldn’t speak any more highly about the time we had if your thinking about it I suggest you go for it, you will not regret it I highly recommend it!

Beatiful view of the Amalfi coast the whole trip, together with fun facts from the captain. Though we have been 6 passangers on the boat the atmosphere was still intim, romantic and so special. There were drinks for the ride, at the sunset we had Prosecco, limonccelo and some snacks. The winter jackets were also available, because it was so windy and cold on the way back. Would definitely recommend it!

We had the most lovely sunset boat tour. We left Amalfi and went in direction of the sun, seeing beautiful landscapes including fiordo di furore which’s so famous on internet. Our last spot was to see the sunset indeed, and we also so dolphins. It was incredible. Our capitan Fulfio was also really nice and informative. I am really glad that we had this adventure 🤍

Amazing experience. The best way to see the Amalfi coast is from the water. Guide was great. Drinks provided were good. Would’ve been nice to have a few more snacks included for the price. Overall, fantastic tour.

Absolutely amazing experience! Would recommend to anyone looking to see the beautiful views of the amalfi coast without visiting Capri. Our captain/guide was amazing.
