Your private driver will collect you from your hotel at 8:30 am to visit the Trou aux Cerfs which is a dormant volcano located in Curepipe with a well-defined cone and crater. The crater has been alternately described as 300 and 350 meters in diameter, and is 80 meters deep. You can also spot Reunion Island on the Horizon. A stop to Mare aux Vacoas the largest reservoir in Mauritius located in the southwest of the island, to the south of the town of Curepipe. It has a capacity of 25,890,000 cubic metres and provides water to the upper Plaines Wilhems and to Moka. It was constructed in 1885. Continue your visit to Grand Bassin also called Ganga Talao the sacred site crater lake where you will see giant Statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga. Grand Bassin is a crater lake about 550 meters above sea level with a depth of between 50 and 55 feet. The next stop will be the Black River Gorges National Park, is park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius. It covers an area of 67.54 km² including humid upland forest, drier lowland forest and marshy heathland. Really good value for money. It was a long and hot drive, but our guide Kevin made the trip a pleasure. There was no pressure to rush things and we were allowed to take the trip at our own pace. All in all a really good experience.
