Discover both the regal and street party sides of Mardi Gras in its true birthplace, Mobile, Alabama. The Mother of Mystics, Mardi Gras is the oldest Carnival celebration in the United States. Visit the Mobile Carnival Museum and learn the history of Fat Tuesday celebrations that started over 300 years ago at the Mobile Carnival Museum.
Travel through 14 gallery rooms, a pictorial hallway, theater, and an interactive float area. See royal robes, crowns, scepters donated by families of monarchs and emblem costumes, favors, doubloons donated by local mystic organizations.
The restored mansion that houses the museum is registered as a historic building and provides you with the opportunity to enjoy detailed crown molding, pine floors, and exquisite chandeliers.
