Know before you go
- This tour is appropriate for beginners with a sense of adventure
- This tour is private, so it will just be your group plus your guide
- There are a lot of down-climbs and chimneys which will have you sliding your butt, hips, knees, back, and arms against the sandstone walls so you'll definitely want to wear durable inexpensive clothing that you don't mind scuffing up
- The driving time from Moab to the trailhead is 2.5 hours, one-way
- If you will be traveling from Capitol Reef National Park, consider starting this adventure in Hanksville, which is only 30 minutes from the trailhead
- Kneepads and gloves are provided to help protect your delicate angled parts. T-shirts and shorts are fine, especially when coupled with the pads provided, but some people prefer long sleeves and pants for added protection from the abrasive walls
- The best footwear is a pair of low-cut, lightweight style hiking shoes. However, any footwear will work, except open-toed sandals
