SEA LIFE at Mall of America is the first SEA LIFE across the globe, and only the second aquarium in North America, to have had success in breeding these critically endangered creatures. Brave the Rainforest and get close to caiman crocodiles, poison dart frogs, piranha, and more. Have the chance to meet Seemore, a rescued Green Sea Turtle, and learn more about her life story. Seemore was found off of the coast of Florida after being hit by a boat propeller. As a result of her injury, a team of animal experts devised and created a 3D-printed shell to help her swim with greater ease. With help from engineers at the University of Minnesota, the plastic shell – or “backpack” - was built, fitted, and tested on her with great success. Hikers, cyclists and sightseers will love spending time outdoors on trails, at viewpoints and seeking waterfalls. When it’s time, head into one of the delightful and charming towns to shop and eat along a route that will transport you to the 1920s, when Highway 61 was still a dirt road winding up the shore. The tour is designed so it can be driven in either direction. If starting out and returning back to Duluth, drive north as far as you can go and time allows, hopefully including a night or two along the way. If time is tight, Grand Marais is a logical turnaround point. The tour goes the entire way to Grand Portage State Park at the Canadian Border. If you are going out and back, we will talk about all the sights and share the stories on the return trip so you don’t miss a thing.
