Full description
Our tour starts off with a cruise along the entire length of the sound and out to the Tasman Sea on a Scenic or Encounter Nature cruise. Each cruise has a different focus and explores a different part of the sound, so pick the one that's best for you! Towards the end of your cruise you will be dropped off at the Milford Discovery Centre to journey through the history, geology and wildlife of Milford Sound and visit New Zealand's only floating underwater observatory Milford Deep to view rare black coral. Then, your specialist kayak and nature guide will take you over to the kayaking pontoon to enjoy 1 hour of relaxing kayaking in serene Harrison Cove. Gaze through the crystal clear waters as you kayak in one of the most majestic places in the world. This is an intimate experience with a maximum of 12 kayaks per tour including a specialist kayak and nature guide to point out the fiord features and wildlife. No previous experience is necessary and we even have an automated lift for easy entry and exit from the kayaks.

The three separate parts of the overall cruise worked wonderfully well together and each gave a different and complementary viewpoint of the Sound. The cruise, itself, was an excellent introduction to the beauty, manifold attractions and magnificence of the Sound while the kayaking allowed a different perspective to be had. I'd do all three again.

Everything was amazing and we got beautiful sunny weather which meant we got to see everything in Milford Sound as there was no clouds hiding the mountains. The kayaking is a must and very safe. The buffet wasn’t great, but nice if you want some warm food after upto 4 hrs drive from Queenstown. There was a group on a tour from an Asian country and it seemed like the buffet has extra things for them and not the rest of us. I asked for a bowl and they couldn’t even provide me that and said it’s only available for the other tour. I think they should be inclusive as a buffet means everything is available to everyone in my opinion. There was no juice, just water and tea.

Definitely one of our top experiences in New Zealand!

Staff and guides were absolutely phenomenal! It was easy to tell that they all love their job and are very passionate about it. The Kayaking was great with a group of only 8 guests and 2 guides. We were lucky enough to see a bunch of penguins when we were out paddling and even though the guides see them every other day or so, they got just as excited about it as the rest of us - which was great to see and a receipt on their passion for the job. Guides for the under water observatorium was great too and the whole experience there was way over expectations. As well as the skippers who spotted more penguins and wild life on the way back and slowed down and made sure we all got to see them. Pointed out, told us facts about them and the Fiords and everything else we could possibly be interested in. The picnic lunch was perfect too. Great value for the money and we were all very satisfied with our day and the whole experience! We were 3 adults (59, 55 and 27 y/o) and one teenager (16 y/o).
