Full description
The Milan Cathedral is widely perceived as the symbol of the city. Construction of the Duomo began in 1387, and sometimes it can seem that it is under constant renovation.

The 14th century white marble the building is made of is very fragile and easily discolored from city pollution. Acid rain can react with the calcium carbonate in the marble, causing it to dissolve and wear away the decorative features of the building. In addition, extremes of weather have taken their toll over the centuries.

Since 1387, the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano has overseen the planning, conservation and reconstruction of the cathedral. Their efforts have been made possible thanks to the generosity of many donors, who have provided much-needed financial support.

You can choose to donate 2, 5, 10 or 20 euros to this cause. Your donation will go towards the restoration of the organ and the maintenance of the cathedral.
