Full description

Discover Milan's rich musical history on a guided tour through one of the world's leading opera theaters. La Scala also houses its own museum, which hosts a vast collection of costumes, instruments, and other musical curios, as well as a gallery of busts and paintings portraying some of classical music's greatest artists, including Giussepe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini. Explore the museum and hear fascinating tales and anecdotes about some of the marvelous musicians who have performed on La Scala's famous stage. You'll be immersed in the magic of the theater itself, with views from the boxes of the neoclassical interior and its monumental crystal chandelier. With good timing and a little bit of luck, you may even witness the artists rehearsing.

The explanation was very good. It was a bit surprising that during the tour we visited only the museum and in order to see the theatre itself we had to come 2 hours after the tour because the concert or opera were not finished by the time of the tour. Occasionally we didn't have problems with that and we came at 16:30, but the were people in the group that had other plans and couldn't come again. I think such a scenario should be written in the tour description because I think most of the people that book this tour would like to see mainly the theatre.

The visit to Scala -and I mean the Opera House itself, not the building - was extremely short, about 5-7 minutes in a lodge at the 3-4-rd floor, with an Opera personal member who had the job to rush us. It was unpleasant, frustrating, we went there to visit, in principal, the stage, the main spectacle room, but not the bar or stairs. Other way, the meeting point indicated by map was far away from the point where the GetYorGuide guide was expecting us, without a flag or else. We had to call at GetYorGuide to ask for indications. It was the second time when wad hapenned, in the same day! The guide was OK.

We did this tour, my wife and I, on our last day in Milan. Most of our tours in Italy were about art in the form of paintings, sculptures, and architecture. This tour has a different flavor, and that's why we enjoyed it. It's also next to the fashion district, so it's nice to plan it on the same day you plan on going there.
