Full description
South Beach Miami has been at the epicenter of cultural movements, from the Art Deco homes, to it gourmet (and healthy) cuisine. Enjoy a 3-hour walking tour of the fascinating city, exploring it through its food heritage. You will begin by looking at the architectural wonders. The Art Deco stylings inspired a generation of designers, including Versace, who owned a mansion here until his untimely death. Others who have shaped the area's history include Al Capone, Don Johnson, and the one and only Gloria Estefan! Each has brought a unique twist to the South Beach style, and left a mark that has changed the culture forever. Your guide will explain the history behind the city, stopping off for some drinks and food along Ocean Drive and Espanola Way. Check out the hottest Cuban, artisanal Peruvian, Italian and Jewish comfort foods. Each tasting is an homage to the cultural diversity of this city. In total, you'll stop at 5-8 restaurants or food stands, strolling along a 1 mile (1.6km) stretch.

We really enjoyed this tour, and our guide Gina was very good and enjoyable to be with for the 2-3 hour tour. It's a walking tour, but it's very easy walking, punctuated by frequent stops and opportunities to sit down. The tour was a good chance for us to see South Beach, as we were first timers to the area. So we enjoyed the historic architecture and the beachy ambience. Of course this is a culinary tour, so food and drink are involved. And to that point, our initial meeting place was a restaurant where we all introduced ourselves (around 12-15 people on our tour as I recall), and enjoyed a popular drink from Colombia (a most interesting combo of beer and orange cream soda - quite better than what you might think), as well as a Colombian inspired empanada, and the most amazing ceviche we've ever had, which was said to be a Peruvian preparation. We made three more stops for food, and keep in mind these are all what you would think of as apps or small plates, and a gelato dessert stop.

Fit for Foodies!

Excellent sampling of restaurants and history of the community all wrapped up in one tidy package. We started at Bolivar's for drinks, enjoyed a wonderful pork dish at Lario's, had fun cocktails and pork belly that was TO DIE FOR at a Hawaiian themed restaurant (sorry, i forget the name!) experienced bubble tea and finished with the best gelato outside of Italy. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the hotels, the history and imparted her knowledge with flair. We met a lot of fun people and just had a great 3 hours walking at an easy pace and eating a LOT of food. This tour is an excellent value, book now and get ready to have some fun!

Great exposure to a wide variety of restaurants!

We got to South Beach, checked in to our hotel, and immediately started the food tour. We went to 6 restaurants for portions ranging from very small to way too much to eat. Cuisines ranged from Columbian to Cuban, to European (French), and Italian. Wonderful way to start a vacation in South Beach!!
