Trek up the mountains of the Mghahinga National Park in Uganda and get the opportunity to see the magnificent mountain gorillas in their natural habitat on a 1-day guided tour from Kigali. Get picked up at 3:00 AM from your hotel in Kigali and travel northwest to Mghahinga National Park for approximately 3 hours. Enjoy breakfast served ala-carte style with a variety of fresh pieces of bread, pastries, and hot and cold selections at a hotel close to the park.   Make a brief stop at the border to clear with customs and then continue to the National Park headquarters to meet your guides for the day. Embark on a once in a lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. The trekking may be fairly strenuous; up to 3 hours or longer at a relatively high altitude.  Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. These massive primates are extremely rare, with less than 1000 living today. Once you spot the gorillas you are allowed to spend an hour watching them. You have an opportunity to get within meters of the families. This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking experiences on earth. Return and stop for lunch in town and later proceed to Kigali. If leaving Kigali, you will arrive in time to transfer to the airport for your onward flight, or if time allows, go on a last-minute shopping before departure.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga Forest with at stop over at Kigali genocide memorial. After breakfast drive to Kigali genocide memorial, a significant historical site dedicated to honoring the victims of the 1994 genocide. It provides a comprehensive overview of the events leading up to the genocide, the atrocities committed, and the efforts of reconciliation and healing. The memorial includes exhibits, personal stories, and a serene garden where visitors can pay their respect. Spend 1-2 hours then drive to Uganda via Musanze town through cyanika border, arrive at your hotel in Kisoro town, and spend your evening at leisure. Accommodation Ichumbi Hotel Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience Report to the park offices for the briefing, then embarked on a trek through the lush forest, guided by experienced rangers. The thrill of encountering these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is indescribable. Observe them interacting, feeding, and caring for their young. End with a sense of awe and a deep appreciation for these incredible animals. Return to our accommodation, reflect on the day's remarkable adventure, surrounded by the comforts of the hotel amenities. Day 1; Lake Bunyonyi - Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (Gorilla Tracking)- Lake Bunyonyi After an early morning breakfast at your Hotel, your driver guide meets and greetings will be followed by transfer to the ranger station for Gorilla tracking Briefing, ahead of your Mgahinga Gorilla Tracking. Afterwards you will be accompanied by a senior ranger guide begin the hike in search of gorillas. DAY 1: WELCOME IN KIGALI - TOUR BRIEFING AND TRANSFER TO MGAHINGA NAT PARK Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda. Our tour representative and your driver/guide will meet you in the morning at, Kigali International Airport. Then we stop in Kigali for a cup f coffee before start our journey to Uganda, Mgahinga Nat Park via Rwanda/Uganda border of cyanika. We’ll arrive early afternoon and check in to our lodge close to the Park. Overnight at Travellers Resort DAY 2: MOUNTAIN GORILLAS TREK – AFTERNOON TRANSFER BACK TO RWANDA, MUSANZE. At about 6:30am, we take a drive of about 30mins to the National Park headquarters at to meet your guides for the day. After completing our park formalities, we are embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. This is perhaps one of the most breath-taking experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, but it is an hour you will never forget. Depending on the length of our trek, groups will return to our lodge by about 1pm. In the afternoon, we transfer back to Rwanda, check in to our hotel in Musanze, close to the Volcanoes Nat Park Overnight at Garden Place Hotel DAY 3: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING + IBY’IWACU VILLAGE VISIT + TRAVEL TO KIGALI This day is set out for Golden Monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park. Entering dense stands of bamboo interspersed with open glades; you will make your way deep into golden monkey territory. Guides lead visitors to the habitat of groups of ‘habituated’ golden monkeys – monkeys that have become accustomed to human presence. Though viewing is kept to a maximum of one hour, travelers can get an up-close look at the golden monkey in its natural habitat. Adult monkeys frolic in plain view, feeding on bamboo leaves and leaping from perch to perch. Females carry their young, completely comfortable among onlookers. Later visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village a Non-Profit umbrella organization that aims at improving the lives of reformed poachers and communities around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park through provision of conservation incentives, supporting community enterprise development and livelihood based projects. Return to your hotel to freshen up and have lunch then later Transfer to Kigali arriving early afternoon. Stop for lunch in Kabale and visit a local market before driving to Bwindi Forest. Day 8: Gorilla tracking After breakfast, drive to the information center for a briefing from the park ranger. Be allocated the gorilla family you are going to visit. After gorilla tracking, drive back to the lodge to relax. Day 9: Walking safari and transfer to Entebbe After breakfast, go for a morning walking safari guided by the park ranger. Return to the lodge for lunch and check out to Entebbe. Stop at the equator point for souvenirs and photos before reaching Entebbe. Day 10: Departure from Entebbe Transfer to Entebbe Airport for your departure.
