Full description

Discover the majestic pyramids of Teotihuacan on an early-morning tour departing from Mexico City. Explore the site with your guide and learn more about the pre-Hispanic history of Mexico.

After being collected from the lobby of your hotel by minibus, you will be taken to the archeological site of Teotihuacan, where you’ll marvel at some of the most impressive pyramids in the world.

You can see the Sun and Moon pyramids, visit the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, walk through the Avenue of the Dead, and much more. You will then be taken to a clay workshop where you will learn everything about the pulque, silver, and clay processes, manufactured by local people.

Whilst there you will also learn about how all these activities were done years ago, and you will be even invited to taste some tequila, mezcal, and pulque. Following this, you can enjoy delicious Mexican food and drinks (not included) during an allocated short break. Your tour will then conclude with you being taken back to your hotel or preferred nearby location at around 3:00 PM.

We enjoyed out guided tour to Teotihuacan. Our guide, Marcus, was VERY knowledgeable and with his great storytelling brought to life history (ancient and more recent), culture, architecture and more in the broader context of today's Mexico. He pointed out many interesting things and anecdotes along the way as well as after we arrived in Teotihucan. If you take this early morning tour, though, remember to eat before or bring something to eat with you. Some food and beverages are sold in the site, but it will take a while before you get there. The pick up was right on time, and after contacting the tour provider on the eve of our tour, the communication with our English speaking guide was easy through WhatsApp. Toward the end of the tor, our group of 14 was given the choice to get lunch by the site or go straight back to CDMX. We chose to go back, making the entire tour about 7 - 8 hours long.

This tour was so great, I would do it again! Ines was our guide and Raul was our driver. Ines was so friendly and knowledgeable. She taught us so much. Highly recommend going early. You beat the traffic and the heat. The pyramids are amazing, but be prepared to walk a lot, which was not a problem for us. Ines also gave us time to look at things and take pictures which was nice. The tequila tasting was cool too. Tasted some things I have never tried before. Also, a good stop for souvenirs to take back. Finally, the lunch was fantastic. We really enjoyed the whole day, especially thanks to Ines. Only downer was traffic coming home, but traffic should be expected in the city always.

It is a good option to avoid large groups of people and it is a plus that they pick you up (even though they were 40 minutes late, that was very bad). However, we hired a tour in Spanish and they put us on a tour with all Americans and English, the guide gave a long and detailed explanation for them and then explained to us very briefly in Spanish. It was not the service that we chose and paid for.
