Full description

Be collected from the meeting point and take the road to Mixquic, a town that symbolizes the essence of the ritual of death. It is decorated to celebrate the traditional Day of the Dead with beautiful carpets of sawdust, cempasuchil flowers, pre-Hispanic dances, and colorful altars.

This is one of the most important celebrations in Mexico because families gather to visit the cemetery and decorate the tombs of their deceased family, giving offerings such as fruit, water, salt, a typical bread called "pan de muerto", and candles. Dare to learn more about how the locals receive their deceased relatives and friends in a truly unusual ritual.

I often go through GYG but this one is to be avoided. It is neither more nor less than a taxi to go to Mixquic. The explanations last 2 minutes, the questions asked are barely answered. We are sent a message the day before asking to come at 1 p.m. to leave in the end at 2 p.m. We finally got off the bus almost 5 hours later because they do not let you get off if the bus is not at its final parking lot. What follows is a chase with the guide who thinks she is walking alone with two explanations along the way of one minute that we cannot hear because the group is more than 20 people and the place is crowded and noisy. So 10 minutes after getting off the bus we are told that it is free time until 9:30 p.m., time to return. We returned to Mexico at more than midnight. I pity the inhabitants of Mixcuic who suffer from mass tourism and the drone sweeping in their cemetery. Taking a taxi or renting a car will cost you much less and save you a colossal waste of time.
