Enjoy a fun excursion through the streets of Mexico City’s historic center, off the usual tourist route. Taste a variety of favorite local foods, from tamales to quesadillas and tacos, and even insects that were an important part of the pre-Hispanic diet.
What to Expect
Your 4-hour tour begins as you take the Metro to Zócalo Hidalgo and then walk to Balderas Avenue, where you’ll stop to try a variety of tacos and quesadillas, including squash blossom quesadillas or corn smut, tacos al pastor, and roasted suckling pig.
Then at the Salto del Agua Metro station, you’ll take the train to Pino Suarez and then walk along Regina Street to the Bar Chon. There you’ll have the opportunity to try some exotic dishes such as nutritious grasshoppers and other insects that were important in the diet of pre-Hispanic Mexico.
Walk across Roldan Street and continue through the Plaza del Aguilita to the Roldan 37 restaurant. This will be the longest stop on the tour, as you’ll be enjoying the full menu of the day.
Finally, your guide will take you to Cafe Tacuba, where you’ll end the tour with some delicious chocolate.
