What people are saying about Meteora

It’s a long trip from Athens. But well worth it if you have an extra day. Everything worked smoothly. The e ticket for the train came by email with good instructions. At the station look for the train number and then the coach number. The guide was waiting for the train when it arrived. A very nice driver and guide in a very clean, new looking vehicle. The trip visited 3 monasteries inside at an extra 3 Euros each, with plenty of stops for photos and views. Take snacks as places to buy them are limited and there’s no real meal opportunity until maybe 45 minutes before catching the train back to Athens.

Chris was extremely informative, relaxed and knowledgeable. We had an absolutely brilliant time and gained a much better understanding of the area and of Greece during the walk. As a bonus we stumbled across two turtles and a lizard which Chris pointed out. The walk was paced excellently and we could speed up or slow as we pleased. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to see the meteora area, a much more interesting experience than seeing it by car!

Excellent! Great explanation of the variety of monasteries and more specially of the frescoes and imaging you can find inside. Apart from that everything was carefully explained how Meteora got its current shape. To top this off with plenty of time during all this to take pictures during riding and at the sunset place in the end. Very modern bus to drive us around and excellent driving.

Getting to the monasteries can be long and difficult. The tour bus picked me up from my accommodation and we visited 2 of the monasteries which were still open. We saw all the rest and had time to take photos which was perfectly adequate. The day I did the tor the weather was appalling heavy mist and rain but the driver and guide did their very best in the trying circumstances.

Meteora itself is jaw-dropping, the sunset is there to whoever wants to watch it. However, the history behind those rocks and the community that’s surrounded by must be told by who knows it better. Cristina and the driver - the best photographer ever!! - were just perfect! I would give them hundreds of stars if I could :).
