Full description
After a pick-up at your hotel in Kalabaka or Kastraki you’ll travel a few miles northwest from Kalabaka, to Meteora. The impressive rocks of Meteora rise from the plains of Thessaly, and are one of the most amazing sites in Greece. Many centuries ago, on these gigantic rocks reaching heights of close to 2,000 feet, one of the most important monastic communities of Greece was formed. During this 4-hour tour you’ll experience spectacular landscapes and marvel at the Byzantine monasteries perched atop the steep rocks. Today only 6 monasteries are still active, operated by a small number of monks and nuns who reside in Meteora. You’ll be able to see all 6 monasteries and have the chance to visit inside 3 of them and admire their priceless artifacts. There will be numerous photo stops along the way, so you'll be able to record your memories. Enjoy short walks during the excursion as well.

Looking back, I cannot imagine doing this trip without taking advantage of this tour. The hike is unrealistic for someone who isnt athletic otherwise, in my opinion. The tour guides were so nice and knowledgeable as well. They were on time picking me up and dropping me off, but I was having such a good time that I didnt want it to end.

    Easy, convenient and worth it.

Tour was just right, worked like a well-oiled machine but did not feel rushed and too touristy. Tour guide and driver were super friendly, they gave enough information during the rides between the monasteries but there was also enough time to explore each place on our own. I don't normally like visiting places with a tour group but we only had 1 full day in Kalambaka, without a car, so this half-day tour was perfect. This gave us time to enjoy the rest of the day to have lunch and to walk/hike up a couple of monasteries in the afternoon to see it during sunset.

    Enjoyable, informative, well organised

The whole experience from pick up to drop off was great. Unfortunately the day was very foggy so we were only able to see the view from time to time but our guide and driver revisited spots so that we could get some glimpses while there were little breaks in the clouds. Our guide was a wealth of information and always happy to answer queries. Our driver was very careful and helpful.
