What people are saying about Merzouga

exhausting due to the long distances by car, but really recommendable

A great tour with unforgettable experiences. We had a friendly driver, but he hardly spoke English. Unfortunately there was no tour guide, so local guides showed us the most important sights. The tour on the first day (~3€) and lunch were not included. In the first restaurant we were asked to leave the restaurant because we only wanted to have a drink. (This gave us more time to visit the place.) On the other days it was no problem to stay at the table with the group. The hotel in the first night was fine and the dinner and breakfast good and sumptuous. According to the season it was very cold at night (~5°C). The highlight of the tour was definitely the camel ride and the overnight stay in the desert. The overnight stay was in 3-4 room. There was even a shared toilet tent with camping toilets. After a short night, another camel ride back to the bus and a quick breakfast we drove back to the hotel. The tour is exhausting due to the long distances by car, but really recommendable.

3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Reviewed by Sonja, 12/05/2018

To sum up, the tour offers a great experience for a very good price.

We had an outstanding experience in the Sahara desert. The tour is very well organized. We started in time, all camels were prepared to take us to our little Sahara adventure. After the approx. 1 hour camel ride which was very convenient, we arrived at the camp. The tour allows for plenty time of individually enjoying the desert before the sun sets. You can spend it strolling around the dunes or having a try with the sandboard - which is very basically equipped and offered when requested. After the truly amazing sunset in the Sahara, tea and biscuits were provided while our guides prepared the dinner. It included three courses: soup, tagine and fruits - which were delicious and far more than enough. Afterwards, a circle of chairs was arranged around the campfire to warm up while listening to drum music. At night, we felt very comfortable inside our tents with enough space, cosy beds and plenty of blankets preventing from feeling cold. Breakfast in the hotel was very nice.

Incredible guide, breathtaking scenery, sore bums!

This is simply a must-do in Morocco, After a smooth booking, we started at beautiful Kasbah Moyahut, where the staff are super friendly. The camel ride went for around 3 hours, with stops for photos and sunset viewing from the dunes of the Sahara. Unfortunately there was no sandboarding as advertised, and no pink flamingos to be seen. The camp was just outside of the desert since new rules forbade then from being inside the Sahara, but it was beautifully set up, food was exceptional and plentiful, we even purchased a bottle of wine to enjoy. The room was toasty warm and comfortable. Dinner and drumming that followed started late, so we were very tired after our overnight bus the previous night. Strap yourself in for a 6am wake up for sunrise photos over the dunes. Despite a few missing elements, our guide was super friendly and helpful, spoke multiple languages fluently, and the experience was second to none. Breakfast was also delightful! Would highly recommend.

Seeing the Sahara was worth the trip, however the guided tour left a b

Guides were nice and polite, but not very engaging. The camel ride was interesting for the first little while, but became uncomfortable soon enough. Nothing to do about that, but maybe consider looking into the ATV tours if you aren't set on riding a camel. Dinner was served very late (10pm) but the traditional food was decent and there was lots of it. We took the tour during Ramadan, and I understand that the staff needed to eat Iftour (breakfast) after sunset, but perhaps inviting the guests to eat alongside the staff or to set up a self-serve buffet during future Ramadan tours could be considered? The fireside drumming was interesting for a while, but went on until after midnight and we had to be up and back on the camels by 5am. Tents were very hot and stuffy, so needless to say it was a sleepless night. However, the desert was beautiful by day and night, and with a little more effort from the hosts, this could be a very special experience!

Overall good trip, offering just what we expected but poor guide

The overall trip was great with everything taking place as expected after reading the comments (long ride, multiple photo and walk options along the way, touristy, expensive lunch options, carpet sales pitch). However our guide was not the most engaged type. He never introduced himself, barely shared any information around the itinerary or surroundings and drohe the van like a race car driver. This however didn’t kill the mood and I would certainly take the trip again.
