You’ve never seen anything like this before. In the 1950's, a man by the name of Stan Ioan Patras, a local sculpture, came up with the brilliant idea of carving tombstones in wood and writing a small epitaph on them. He transformed a local custom into a work of art by including small, funny stories of the people who had passed on their epitaphs. In the middle of the cemetery is the Orthodox church, built in the beginning of the 19th century. After exploring this unique place, head down to Sapanta Peri to admire the world's tallest wooden monastery build recently.  Take in the breathtaking views of the scene. Your visit will end at the Stan Ioan Patras memorial house to admire the work of the master himself who created the Merry Cemetery almost 60 years ago.
